Situated in the friendly city of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Petrichor Studio is all about creating sustainable spaces for clients - in the home, the office and the garden.
Michelle Hatherly has many years of garden design experience primarily using indigenous plants, as well as several years practice as an interior designer. She is passionate about sustainable and eco-friendly design and employs "reduce, re-use, recycle" principles in her inspiring design of spaces. These principles not only benefit the environment, but they also significantly reduce design and decorating costs for clients.
Petrichor Studio has also evolved with the collaboration of Michelle and her photographer/designer daughter, Sasha Hatherly. They have considered creating an Online Store for some years, which would showcase the talents of local South African designers and artists.
Now a reality, the Store will ultimately 'stock' a range of handmade furniture, lighting, cushion covers and other accessories which are useful, durable, but which will also beautifully decorate home, office and garden, and create sustainable spaces to live and work in. Many will be cleverly re-purposed items, as well as those produced from recycled materials. A select range of indigenous bulbs and seeds grown by Petrichor Studio, will also be available to purchase in the Store.
